Mesothelioma Awareness, Mesothelioma Prevention

The following events and programs have been established to raise awareness about mesothelioma cancer and to search for a cure. Whether by collecting funds for research, developing treatments, or simply speaking about the risks of mesothelioma, the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and Dr. David J. Sugarbaker have worked diligently in improving the poor prognosis that surrounds this fatal cancer.

International Mesothelioma Program

Established by Dr. David Sugarbaker, the International Mesothelioma Program (IMP) includes both clinical and research efforts. The focus of the clinical sector is developing treatments that can lengthen the lifespan of mesothelioma patients.  The research sector, made up of several clinical scientists, strives to understand the causes of mesothelioma and to develop improved therapies from their findings.
International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma

The International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma, sponsored by the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) and most recently held in June in Washington D.C., sheds light on the latest research and treatment while offering social support for patients and their families. The annual symposium features speakers from the world’s leading mesothelioma cancer centers and enables patients to interact with these experts to learn more about treatments and other advances in research.
