Overview
Asbestos cancers, such as mesothelioma or asbestos-related lung cancer, are caused by exposure to asbestos fibers. It doesn’t matter if you worked around asbestos-containing materials every day, ate dinner with your father who had microscopic asbestos fibers on his clothing, worked with asbestos products in the armed forces, happened to work or attend school in a renovated building where asbestos was disturbed, or washed your husband’s asbestos-laden clothing –any level of asbestos exposure can potentially lead to deadly mesothelioma cancer, asbestosis or other kinds of asbestos-related cancers.
These asbestos cancers can take decades to manifest, and may not even be diagnosed until the cancer has progressed to the third or fourth stage.
